In the Company of Flowers: A Dream Years in the Making
One of my favorite parts of attending floral workshops over the years has never just been the flowers—although those are always beautiful. It’s the people. The shared stories, the quiet moments of connection, the collective excitement that happens when you’re surrounded by others who love flowers as much as you do.
There’s something so unique about this community—florists, gardeners, artists, and seekers of beauty—and the friendships I’ve made in those spaces have stayed with me long after the last stem was placed. I’ve watched fellow creatives flourish in their own ways, and those connections have become some of my most treasured gifts.
In the Company of Flowers is a gathering I’ve been dreaming about for a long time, and I’m so excited to bring it to life this July. Over two sun-soaked days at Holman Ranch in Carmel Valley, we’ll gather for floral demonstrations, shared meals, and thoughtful conversation—wrapped in the scent of summer blooms and golden hillside views.
We’re thrilled to welcome two incredibly inspiring creatives to lead alongside us:
🌸 Max Gill, whose garden-inspired work is grounded in natural process and abundant in artistry. He’ll be sharing his philosophy and techniques through a hands-on floral demo in the historic Carriage House.
🌸 Kristine Albrecht of Santa Cruz Dahlias, whose innovative breeding has transformed the way florists design with dahlias. She’ll walk us through her cutting garden approach and give an inside look at creating color-driven varieties that florists truly want.
Here’s a peek at what to expect:
Monday, July 14
• Morning check-in and floral demonstration
• Alfresco lunch in the rose garden
• An afternoon floral demo and creative exploration
• Free time to hike, swim, or simply rest
• Holman Ranch wine tasting and dinner under the pergola
• Fireside nightcap in the gameroom
Tuesday, July 15
• Continental breakfast on the patio
• Kristine’s dahlia demonstration + Q&A
• Book signing and farewell lunch
Whether you’ve been designing for years or are just dipping your hands into the flower world, this is a space for slowing down, creating with intention, and connecting with others who share your love of all things botanical. I can’t wait to share my favorite summer flowers—and one of my favorite places—with you.
